Despite releasing over a decade ago, the love and adulation that many fans have for The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim has managed to persist. Even now, players are finding new and inventive ways to push Skyrim beyond its limits, accomplishing some truly impressive, and occasionally ridiculous, feats. Now, one player has gone ahead and pranked one of the most recognizable NPCs in Skyrim in the most hilarious fashion.
In recent years, fans of Skyrim have begun experimenting with the game’s mechanics in ways that the developers would have never otherwise intended. For instance, one player recently decided to fill Breezehome up to the brim with cheese for no other reason, other than they wanted to. That level of freedom is what excites many longtime fans of Skyrim, to the point where another player has used the object system to play a practical joke on the Jarl of Whiterun.
Over on Reddit, a user named litaTequila decided to put every interactive item in the Jarl’s quarters in Dragonsreach on top of Jarl Balgruuf as he slept. The massive pile of plates, bowls, vases, drums, and other cursory items is so large its spilling off the bed. Though, the fact that the Jarl gets out of bed and pushes all the items out of the way, completely unfazed, is perhaps the most hilarious part of this entire exchange.
Clearly, the developers over at Bethesda never thought players would try to do something like this. Therefore, the Jarl and the other NPCs don’t respond dynamically to the circumstances. Although, considering that the player didn’t attack the Jarl or cause him any bodily harm, it seems unlikely that the rest of the NPCs would respond with violence.
It’s amazing that players are still managing to accomplish all of these bizarre moments within Skyrim. Following the release of Skyrim: Anniversary Edition, players figured out how to do all sorts of different things as a result of the new content. One player even managed to beat Skyrim: Anniversary Edition using nothing but a fishing rod.
In any case, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for The Elder Scrolls series going forward. While The Elder Scrolls 6 is confirmed to be in development, there has been no additional news regarding the development of the game. Given the ongoing production of Starfield, it’s likely that Bethesda will show more of The Elder Scrolls 6 once Starfield has officially released.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
