The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, despite its age, continues to inspire gamers all over the world. Skyrim’s expansive landscape encourages players to explore and experiment, and that creativity and freedom often extends to ideas outside of the game itself.
Skyrim fanart of many kinds are very popular among fans of the series. Skyrim fans have drawn, written, molded, printed, and carved art in appreciation of Skyrim, and one such fan has now shared a beautiful painting inspired by the dragons of Skyrim.
The painting was shared by LongFineArt, who wanted to bring attention to their wife’s impressive work. Standing with the painting in front of them, LongFineArt’s wife poses with the art of a profile shot of a dragon’s head. Within the image of the dragon is the landscape of Skyrim, complete with its towering mountains, tall trees, and another dragon soaring above it all through the sky.
LongFineArt’s wife, who shares their work as Painted Dragon Studios, clearly put a lot of effort into the piece. The image seems to stir up memories for Skyrim fans, and many people spoke up in support of the art and wondering where they could buy it for themselves. Painted Dragon Studios offers prints and original paintings, including many based on popular fantasy series like Skyrim and The Lord of the Rings, for sale on their Etsy shop, though at the time of writing, it doesn’t look like this particular painting is available.
The open world of Skyrim, its seemingly never-ending list of mods, the sweeping soundtrack, and memorable characters of Tamriel have all led players to still feel incredibly attached to the game. While it’s easy to think that players will leave Skyrim behind and move on when Bethesda finally releases The Elder Scrolls 6, chances are that Skyrim will still be a classic to return to for diehard fans. Oblivion, Skyrim’s predecessor, still has an active playerbase, and fans are still working hard to make Skyblivion, an effort to bring Oblivion’s world and campaign to the newer game.
Fantasy game fans in the comments mention that Skyrim continues to fill a niche that has been seemingly underserved as of late. While Elden Ring just released, major franchises like The Elder Scrolls, Dragon Age, and The Witcher have gone dormant in recent years. However, with a new Dragon Age in the works and The Elder Scrolls 6 likely becoming Bethesda’s main focus following the upcoming release of Starfield, fantasy gamers should have a lot to play in the years to come.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
