Sky is a company that offers telecommunications, subscription TV and internet services throughout the United Kingdom.
To access Sky TV services, they offer their own set-top-boxes. There are multiple options so you can choose the Sky Box that best suits your needs (Sky Q, Sky+ and Sky+ HD).
However, it seems that a couple of key Sky Box features (‘Catch up’ and ‘On Demand’) are not working on BBC, ITV and Sky channels.
Sky Box ‘Catch up’ and ‘On Demand’ not working correctly
Similar to other pay TV providers, Sky offers tools for those who like to download or record their favorite shows to watch them later.
To this end, Sky TV boxes have the ‘Catch up’ and ‘On Demand’ features. But multiple reports indicate that Sky Box ‘Catch up’ and ‘On Demand’ are currently not working properly on some channels like BBC, ITV and Sky.
When those affected try using these features, they get an error message saying they need to upgrade their subscription.
Hi i have just had Sky installed around 1 week ago and whenever i go to download something from catch up or on demand it wont work and i get an error message at the top of the TV that says please call us to upgrade your subscription. Source
Just had sky installed today, only got signature basic, on demand n catch up won’t work says I need to upgrade ? Also, Box sets, not working , plz help b4 a cancel Source
Issue acknowledged & impacted channels
The Sky team is already aware of the issue and working on resolving it (1, 2). They also confirmed that the ‘Catch up’ and ‘On Demand’ malfunctions on select channels.
There is still no ETA for a fix, but we will update this story once new related events arise.
