On Monday, the father of killed Punjabi musician Sidhu Moosewala appealed Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to request a high court sitting judge to investigate his son’s death. Balkaur Singh, Moosewala’s father, urged that the Punjab government enlist the CBI and the NIA in the investigation in order to get justice for his son. He also asked that the DGP issue a public apology for attributing his son’s death to gang violence.

According to reports, Moosewala’s family refused to allow the post-mortem to be conducted.

Singh blamed the event on the AAP-led government’s purported incompetence in a letter to CM Mann.

“Shubhdeep’s mother is asking me where her son is and when he will return. What reply should I give?” said Singh in an emotional letter.

“I hope that I will get justice,” he added.

“This case should be inquired by a sitting judge of the high court. The Punjab government should ensure assistance of the CBI and the NIA in the inquiry,” Singh wrote in the letter.

He demanded that authorities who examined his son’s safety and publicly revealed the order to withdraw the security cover be held accountable.

Unidentified assassins shot and killed Moosewala on Sunday in Punjab’s Mansa district, the day after the state government lowered his security cover.

The attack also injured Moosewala’s cousin and a pal, who were commuting in a Mahindra Thar SUV with him.

“This tragedy appears to be an instance of inter gang rivalry,” the Punjab police DGP said on Sunday, noting that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was responsible for Moosewala’s death.

At least 3 weapons were used, and the scene revealed 30 empty cases.

After the state police removed two of four commandos from Moosewala’s security protection, he was left with only two Punjab Police commandos. Moosewala, on the other hand, did not bring the remaining two commandos or his bullet-proof car with him on Sunday.

On Saturday, Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, also known as Sidhu Moosewala, was one of 424 people whose security was temporarily removed or limited by the Punjab Police.
