Nearly a month after launch, New World is starting to see a healthy number of players hit its highest levels. As such, the discourse surrounding the game is shifting to how New World’s endgame feels with so many players hitting level 60 or approaching that number. As one of New World’s most prominent players, Twitch streamer Shroud is not only participating in much of the MMO’s endgame, but he’s being asked about his thoughts on endgame content. The latest subject that Shroud addressed is New World’s Corrupted Invasion system.

Corrupted Invasions in New World are a PvE endgame experience, a counterpart to the MMO’s 50v50 PvP Wars. These Corrupted Invasions trigger every four days, starting a recruitment effort led by a Settlement’s Governor for players level 50 and higher. The Governor will be able to choose 10 specific “Heroes” from those players registered for the event. The remaining 40 will be randomly selected from the remaining registered players. In other words, it’s a relatively exclusive endgame experience.

Regarding his first point, Shroud says that level 50s in Corrupted Invasions are “wasted space,” insinuating that he only wants level 60s in a Corrupted Invasion. While he doesn’t elaborate, perhaps Shroud would prefer Corrupted Invasions should be balanced around level 60s, or he’s frustrated that level 60s who put the time in are being kept out by level 50s. As for his second point, Shroud says that players from other factions can “throw,” meaning they can work to ensure the players lose to the AI invaders.

Shroud does acknowledge that these changes would only work on a high population server. A low population New World server could both struggle to find enough level 60s and enough players without faction crossover. For a high population server, however, Shroud believes these restrictions would be to New World’s benefit.

New World is available now on PC.
