Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll born 2 February 1977 is a Colombian singer and songwriter. Born and raised in Barranquilla, Shakira has been referred to as the “Queen of Latin Music” and is noted for her versatility in music. She made her recording debut under Sony Music Colombia at the age of 13.
Shakira has always been a pop chameleon capable of blending electro-pop, funk guitars, and a thumping reggaeton beat, and on her new song, “Te Felicito,” she’s teamed up with Latin music’s reigning showman Rauw Alejandro for a collaboration that blends electro-pop, funk guitars, and a thumping reggaeton beat.
‘Te Felicito,’ which translates to ‘I congratulate you,’ features Shakira and Puerto Rican singer and rapper Rauw Alejandro is an electro-pop/reggaeton single. The track is the singer’s first single of 2022, following last year’s ‘Don’t Wait Up’, which was also her first completely English single since 2016’s ‘Try Everything’.
Shakira is shown dancing in a futuristic atmosphere with a robot in the accompanying music video for ‘Te Felicito,’ directed by Jaume de la Iguana and shot in Barcelona. She then builds a robot boyfriend (Alejandro), who joins in as the two do dance influenced by robots.
Shakira had perform at the Super Bowl halftime show in 2020 alongside Jennifer Lopez. The band sped through 20 songs in 12 minutes at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium, earning rave reviews.
