Shah Rukh Khan and Taapsee Pannu are scheduled to begin filming for their upcoming film, Dunki. The Rajkumar Hirani-directed film is set to hit theaters on December 22, 2023.
Recall when we heard of the rumor that Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani were collaborating on a unique project. The wait has finally come to an end. SRK just announced his next project with the PK director on social media – after Pathaan, of course. This is SRK and Hirani’s debut collaboration, and the film is titled Dunki.
What else did we notice, though?
Taapsee Pannu will be a part of the cast! In the caption, Shah Rukh referred to Hirani as his “Santa Claus.” This casting coup could only have been pulled off by Santa. Psst, it’ll also be out for Christmas in 2023!
Dunki Is All Set To Release On DEC 22, 2023
Shah Rukh Khan announced this upcoming film in a very hatke style. It’s neither a teaser nor a first look, but rather a humorous video starring King Khan and Rajkumar Hirani, the Star Maker.
SRK captioned the video, “Dear @hirani.rajkumar sir, aap to Mere Santa Claus nikle. Aap shuru karo main time pe pahunch jaunga. actually, the main toh set par hi rehne lagunga! Feeling humbled and excited to finally work with you. Bringing to you all #Dunki in cinemas on 22nd December 2023 @taapsee @gaurikhan @redchilliesent @rhfilmsofficial (sic).”

The trailer begins with SRK staring at a wall covered in Rajkumar Hirani movie posters. Soon after, Hirani approaches him, and SRK thanks him for inventing legendary characters like Munnabhai MBBS, played by Sanjay Dutt, and PK, played by Aamir Khan.

Hirani is then asked if he has a script for Shah Rukh. “Ek Kahani hai,” Hirani continues, promising a lot of humor and emotion. What about romance, inquires the Dil Se star. “Hai sir,” Hirani continues, “but aap yeh wala action avoid kijiyega,” referring to SRK’s famous hands-stretched attitude. “Haath hi kaat lunga main, sir aap bolo to (I’ll chop off my hands if you tell me),” SRK concludes.
