During Apple’s iPhone 14 launch event, Severance decided to drop a brief teaser for its next season to surprise its viewers. It’s almost been 5 long years since viewers have seen the people’s favorite innies, Severance.
The teaser opted for Apple’s launch event to be the best choice for the new season’s launch. Although the teaser was only eight seconds long, but it effectively brought up the character of Helly.
In the teaser, we’ll get to see that Helly appeared to be standing in a subway station waiting for the next subway to arrive in the brief eight-second teaser, while the Severance theme music plays in the background. Then, for a brief moment, there appeared to be a static interference with Helly before returning to normal. This is open to interpretation. Now its upon the assumption of the viewers, so possibly it seems like Helly has returned to her outie Helena, or vice versa. It could also imply that Lumen has projected this image as a precautionary measure now that Helly and the other innies have had a taste of what their lives are like outside of their work environment.
The teaser gives the viewers plenty to think about, factoring in all that happened at the end of the last season. After the launch, there arose many questions, answers to which will only be received once we get to see the whole season of Severance. The curious audience and their ample questions are what makes the movie the best real-life application of Plato’s allegory of the cave.
