Written by J.Soori, BL webcomic’s Semantic Error has created a splendid aura around the world after the Season 3 was released. Especially in the South Korea region, this season ended up being one of the most appreciated and anticipated BL returns.

Talking about the plot, the story of this comic series is about a romance story that takes place in a school campus between computer science major Sangwoo Choo and fine arts major Jaeyoung Jang. With a quintessential enemies-to-lovers arc, the story has alot to watch and feel surprised yet happy. In the first season, we saw that Jaeyoung makes it his goal to make Sangwoo’s life a living hell after the latter delays Jaeyoung’s graduation. In the second season, they were shown coming fairly close to one another. However, the storyline still revolved around their thoughts stuck between wanting each other and wanting to kill each other.

This time, Semantic Error’s third season takes a noticeably more mature approach, that is it focuses towards focusing on dissolving all the emotional barriers for its protagonist. While in the initial seasons we saw that Sangwoo hated the color “red”, because it was a representation of mistakes, and Jaeyoung on the other end used to take advantage of the same. But as the love angle is shown growing between them in the latest season, the color red and its definition has totally changed now. The color is vibrant, rich, and emotional.  The color represents Sangwoo’s carnal desires and his growing affection for his former enemy Jaeyoung.

There are scenes, where Jaeyoung and Sangwoo are getting closer and being intimate- these are not actually explicit, but thankfully, Angy’s artful usage and mindful ability managed to convey a sensual atmosphere. While some readers might find these scenes uncomfortable due to Sangwoo’s hesitancy, it’s important to note that Sangwoo is still shown, struggling to overcome various mental barriers. The story between the two boys even passes on the message towards one very important message towards the society regarding the LGBTQ, when one of them starts thinking that he was raised to believe that homosexual relationships are “abnormal”, the other guy who tries to help him normalise his feelings, gently but quickly, dispels this sentiment.

Similarly, there will come many barriers with regard to which the intimacy between the two sometimes strikes down. The most important plot point is Jaeyoung and Sangwoo taking their physical relationship to the next level.
