MacOS 12 Monterey is the latest iteration of Apple’s Mac operating system that was announced at WWDC in June and was officially released on October 25.
Ever since Apple introduced macOS Monterey, users have been facing several kinds of issues with this latest OS. The company has acknowledged and fixed some bugs, while many are still left unacknowledged.
There’s another issue that just recently popped up for some users on macOS Monterey which is making it difficult for them to use SanDisk external drives.
SanDisk SecureAccess app not working on macOS Monterey
Some users are complaining (1, 2, 3) that their SanDisk drives are not working on macOS Monterey when they try to access them via SanDisk’s SecureAccess application.
Users say that after they updated to macOS Monterey 12.0.1, the SanDiskSecureAccessV3_mac application isn’t recognizing any external drives and throws an error that says ‘This application only runs on a SanDisk flash drive’.

As a result, users are unable to format their SanDisk external hard drives or access their stored data.
Here’s how the error message is displayed in the app:
Apple allegedly said that this error has nothing to do with macOS Monterey and it’s a SanDisk issue to fix. Meanwhile, SanDisk stated that the application is not yet certified to be used on macOS Monterey.
It seems that SecureAccess app isn’t fully optimized with Apple’s latest OS and SanDisk will need to update the application to make it work on macOS Monterey.
As a temporary workaround, users can downgrade to the previous macOS version to access their data or else, wait for SanDisk to fix this issue.
We hope that the company updates SecureAccess app with support for macOS Monterey soon. And when they do, we will update this section to reflect the same.
