Samsung launched S95B OLED TV series at the beginning of this year with a LaserSlim design, Neural Quantum Processor 4K, Samsung’s Object Tracking Sound, and Q-Symphony with Dolby Atmos.
It also features an OLED brightness booster and perceptional color mapping for delivering brighter, more accurate highlights and realistic colors. The series currently has 55 and 65-inch models to choose from.
Samsung is known for its displays, be it in smartphones, tablets, laptops, or TVs, the South Korean tech giant never disappoints its users. However, some bugs might surface once in a blue moon to ruin the user experience.
Samsung S95B OLED TV picture quality issues
And a similar case has happened with some Samsung S95B OLED TV users as they report picture quality issues with their units.
While OLED displays are known for delivering the most natural form of black, some S95B OLED TV users report that they are not seeing truly black color.
Furthermore, users say that they noticed the greyish-colored screen in some instances, while others pointed out that the colors are appearing washed out.
According to some of those affected, this problem apparently surfaced after a recent update.
Issue to be addressed in 2023, but there’s a catch!
South Korea’s ETNews (via) recently reported that Samsung will launch a 77-inch model in the S95B OLED series at the upcoming CES 2023.
And with this launch, the company allegedly aims to improve the black levels as compared to what is offered on the current 55 and 65-inch models.
However, it’s not confirmed whether these improvements are to be done in software or hardware. So, it remains unknown if the existing 55 and 65-inch S95B models will also get these picture quality improvements.
We hope that Samsung comes up with something to improve the black levels and picture quality issues on the existing models. And when they do, we will update this story to reflect the latest developments.
Update 1 (January 02, 2023)
05:20 pm (IST): Some users report that the December (2022) firmware update (v1403) is ‘broken’. Now the maximum brightness is limited, the contrast has been reduced and the images on the screen are ‘dull’ (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).
Some have tried to avoid the installation of the firmware by deactivating the ‘Auto Update’ option. Sadly, the update is installed by itself (1, 2).
The only way to avoid update seems to be to maintain the TV disconnected from the Wi-Fi. But, this means that you will lose all its ‘smart’ features.
