Original story (published on August 14, 2020) follows:
Samsung is already working on One UI 2.5 for a number of its recent devices but still, some devices that were eligible for an update to One UI 2 are yet to bag this much-awaited update.
One such device is the Samsung Galaxy J4. Launched back in May 2018, this now-aging device was a true mid-ranger. It is powered by the Exynos 7570 chip, coupled with 2/3GB RAM. It ran Android 8 Oreo out-of-the-box and has since been updated to Android 9 Pie.
Back in early July, we saw reports that Samsung was planning to roll out the update sometime in August. True to the company’s word, Samsung is rolling out Android 10 to the Galaxy J4 (SM-J400F).
This update which started rolling out on August 13 brings many of the features that we expect with One UI 2. For a detailed list of what’s new in Android 10 for the Galaxy J4, here’s the changelog.
As is often the case with these updates, Samsung is rolling this one out as an OTA to eligible devices and as such, users are advised to sit tight and await the update to hit their devices.
With this update, the Galaxy J4 joins the ever-growing list of Samsung devices that have bagged an update to Android 10-based One UI 2. According to a recently-released list from Samsung Members, the next devices in line for this update include the Samsung Galaxy Tab A (8.0″, 2019) slated to get updated sometime this month and the Galaxy J6+ and the Galaxy Tab A in September.
We shall continue to keep an eye on One UI 2 rollout and update our dedicated tracker to reflect the same.
Update 1 (September 09)
IST 12:08 pm: According to a firmware listing for the Samsung Galaxy J6+, the Android 10 update alongside One UI 2.0 has been released for the device in Vietnam with build number CTI1.
