The bail application filed by Shah Rukh Khan’s 23-year-old son Aryan and two others – Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha – has been reopened before the Bombay High Court. Merchant’s senior attorney, Amit Desai, slammed the NCB’s accusation of conspiracy in court, noting that despite the case being on its 23rd day, no arrests have been made on that charge. In court, Desai stated, “This is a case of nothing more than personal consumption.”

However, before Nawab Malik’s bail was reinstated, the Nawab Malik-Sameer Wankhede feud resurfaced. While the Maharashtra minister stated that if his charges about Wankhede’s credentials are shown to be false, the NCB official, who made headlines after detaining Shah Rukh Khan’s son, dismissed Malik’s assertions. He told News18 that Malik’s charges are “absolutely false.” Wankhede’s wife, Kranti Redkar, told reporters that the family has filed a case with the Oshiwara police station against Nawab Malik. Khan’s bail hearing was postponed on Tuesday after the defense team, led by former Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi, argued for several hours.

As he distanced himself from the raging allegations of an extortion attempt against NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede, who came under a new round of attack from Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik, his legal team told the court that there was no evidence against him in the drugs-on-cruise case and that he was wrongly arrested. The Mumbai Police announced on Tuesday that they have received four complaints alleging extortion by Narcotics Control Bureau Director Sameer Wankhede and other officers and that they have begun an investigation to investigate these claims. One of the applications was filed by NCB independent witness Prabhakar Sail, who claimed that he overheard KP Gosavi, another witness in the cruise ship raid case, discussing a demand of Rs 25 crore, including Rs 8 crore for Sameer Wankhede, over the phone.
