The Rocket Boys actress recently discussed how she landed the role of Parvana Irani. During the 2 years of the epidemic, the audition procedure took a toll, and artists all over the world were forced to use the self-test approach.
“Kavish Sinha (casting director) called me to audition for Rocket Boys in May 2020 during the first lockdown. At the time because of covid, all actors had to do self-tests, we kinda learned to be self-sufficient in a way, and help each other do these tests. Sometimes getting cues from a zoom call on the laptop while shooting on the phone propped up on books, sometimes even shooting a test without dialogue cues just taking pauses for the other character’s dialogues in one’s head,” Saba explains, shedding insight into the situation.
Saba mentioned it was difficult to execute a self-test shot without the casting directors present when she spoke about her experience. One ends up relying on their own imagination to determine what is required. She went on to say that she spent a lot of time researching the time period in which Rocket Boys was set, and that reading about the two scientists inspired her to create her own picture of Pipsy, complete with hair, makeup, and styling. Self-tests have the advantage of allowing you to retake them till you are satisfied. Her best friend came over for this one and patiently assisted her with the camera and prompts take after take. They utilized reading lamps to light the frame because she didn’t have appropriate lighting.
Saba Azad is currently enjoying the Rocket Boys’ achievement, for which she deserves a lot of credit. In the meantime, Saba Azad will be seen in Rocket Boys 2. Aside from that, the star is waiting for the release of ‘Minimum,’ in which she will be seen playing a French girl.
