Based out of California, Rivian is an EV manufacturer that started in 2009 and went public in November last year, raising more than $13.5 billion in the process.

Following the public interest in Rivian, many think the company would soon be competing with the likes of Tesla and Toyota in the automotive space.

That said, software engineering VP at Rivian, Wassym Bensaid, has, through Reddit, confirmed that they will be bringing several new features to their products and fix existing bugs and issues while at it.

New features

Starting with the most important one, it looks like the developers are making an operating system which will be compatible with all models and variants Rivian has to offer.

It looks like the much-requested ‘Camping mode’ will be added sometime near the end of this summer. This is really useful if you want to camp in the car and don’t want the battery to drain.

Wassym also said they will be adding support for more music apps, but did not share any specific information on which services will be added.

Another useful feature that will soon be added is the ability to send destinations from your phone to the car.

Rivian’s software VP also shared that automated detection of parking conditions and birds eye view auto trigger will also be added sometime in the near future.

For those wanting to lower the car height, Wassym said they are developing a kneel mode that automatically adjusts the car height to the lowest when stopped.

Another useful feature Rivian has planned is the ability to switch languages and toggle from imperial to metric systems.

You can check out the list below for other features Rivian will be adding in the near future.

– Ability to switch range display between miles and Soc coming later this summer.
