Red Dead Online came out nearly four years ago and remains one of the most popular games. The gameplay, cooperative story missions, bounty hunting, and player versus player modes are among the few highly praised aspects of the popular Rockstar Games title. On the other hand, Red Dead Online is criticized for inadequate updates and ignoring fanbase recommendations and complaints.
Earlier this year, Rockstar released a new Red Dead Online update that got backlash from fans. Rockstar has been heavily criticized for neglecting Red Dead Online in favor of GTA Online as the latter gets more frequent and larger updates.
Moreover, a part of the Red Dead community is running a #SaveRedDeadOnline campaign on social media to show their frustration with Rockstar. The campaign was again in the news due to some new Red Dead Online bounty hunting rewards announced in a Twitter post. According to the post, Rockstar will reward licensed bounty hunters who have completed 5 Legendary Bounties by giving them the tan Tied Pants. The tweet also includes a link to the Rockstar Newswire, which contains more information about the new rewards. Besides the licensed bounty hunters, all Red Dead Online players who log in this month will get 5 Special Horse Revivers. Naturally, the post in question sparked an explosion of re-tweets and replies from fans who were extremely vocal about their resentment.
Most of the re-tweets and replies criticized Rockstar Games for disregarding fans and accused the developer of killing the game. These fans feel they deserve more high-quality content and took regular jabs at Rockstar. Many users accused Rockstar of abandoning Red Dead Online, while others ridiculed the reward for being pathetic and substandard. One particularly annoyed user said he’d be happier if Rockstar gave them nothing instead of this second-rate reward.
Time and again, fans have shown their discontent towards Rockstar Games for ignoring their requests. One popular proposal was regarding the issue of adding Real Estate and Vehicles to Red Dead Online to improve the game, which is yet to be seen.
Despite complaints, some features of Red Dead Online are appreciated by the fanbase, like its intuitive character creator. Players use it to create several fictional characters in Red Dead Online like Gandalf from the Lord of the Rings, Princess Leia from Star Wars, Rorschach from Watchmen, etc.
Red Dead Online is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
